Jetzt, wo wir in einer elektrischen Umgebung von Informationen leben, die nicht nur in visuellen sondern auch anderen sensorischen Formen codiert sind, ist es natürlich, dass wir jetzt neue Wahrnehmungen haben, die das Monopol und die Priorität visuellen Raumes zerstören und diesen älteren Raum so bizarr aussehen lassen wie ein mittelalterliches Wappen über der Tür eines Chemielabors."

ROMA schlägt einen zeitlosen Raum vor. Eine Zukunft, die auf Ruinen einer Hör-Vergangenheit gebaut ist, wo alle ihre Soundelemente wiederbenutzt und angeordnet werden in einer neuen Szene, die unsere Wahrnehmung von Zeit, Raum und allem, was der Mensch vorgibt, dort einsortiert zu haben, hinterfragt. In dieser Situation sind der Sampler und die Soundbanken wie ein grosses Archiv akustischer Information, wo wir Archäologie des Konsums, der Produktion und der Aufmerksamkeit machen.

Cecilia Castro, geb. 1980 in Argentinien. Komponistin, Klangkünstlerin und elektronische Performerin. Sie machte ihren Bachelorabschluss in elektroakustischen Medien und Komposition an der staatlichen Universität von Quilmes. Einige ihrer Werke haben Preise vom Nationalen Kunstfonds, von der Telefónica Stiftung und dem Museum für Moderne Kunst in Buenos Aires gewonnen. Sie hat elektronische Stücke, Werke gemischter Medien und Soundinstallationen in nationalen und internationalen Galerien wie Diapason Gallery in New York und Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid präsentiert.
In den folgenden Jahren wurde die Musik Castros – ein feiner Mix aus instrumentalem Minimalismus, "Dark Electronics" und Theatralität – in Buenos Aires regelmässig aufgeführt. In ihrer jüngsten Arbeit hat Castro ihre künstlerische Neugierde und ihr soziales Bewusstsein ausgeweitet und die Politik von Sound erforscht, um verfeinerte Klangkunstinstallationen zu kreieren, die Noise, Graffiti, Performancekunst und Samplingtechnik verbinden.

ROMA proposes a timeless space. A future built on ruins of an aural past where all its sound elements are reused and arranged in a new scene that questions our perception of time, space and everything that human pretended to order in there. In this situation, the sampler and the sound banks are like a great archive of sonic information where we do archeology of consumption, production and attention.

Cecilia Castro
Born in Argentina in 1980. Composer, sound artist and electronic performer. She received her bachelor degree in electroacoustic media and composition from the National University of Quilmes. Some of her works have won awards from the National Art Fund, Telefónica Foundation and Modern Art Museum in Buenos Aires. She presented electronic pieces, works of mixed mediums and sound installation at national and international galleries such as Diapason Gallery in New York and Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid.
Over the following years, Ms. Castro’s music –a delicate mix of instrumental minimalism, dark electronics and theatricality– became regularly performed in Buenos Aires. In her recent work, Ms. Castro has expanded her artistic curiosity and social awareness, exploring the politics of sound to create refined sound art installations that combine noise, graffiti, performance art and sampling technics.
