+ Zwischen Freiheit und Diktatur | die Wand

Wir wollen eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Antipoden Freiheit und Diktatur auch im übertragenem Sinne anregen. Dabei sind nicht nur die politischen Aspekte und die Gratwanderung zwischen Freiheit und diktatorischem Vorgehen sowie auch der Handlungsspielraum in demokratischen Systemen, die der Freiheit der Marktwirtschaft unterliegen, gemeint, sondern auch eine Reflexion über eigene Wünsche zur Diktion und die Anpassung von Denkgewohnheiten und Vorgangsweisen insbesondere im künstlerischen Schaffen an die gegebenen gesellschaftlichen und kulturellen Bedingungen.

Im Rahmen dessen startet der Zyklus
+ Zwischen Freiheit und Diktatur | die Wand.

Für den King Oxxo Serienzyklus verwendete er die Zeitschrift Page, die als Expertenzeitschrift für Design Code und Business gehandelt wird, als Ausgangsmaterial. Sie bildet sozusagen den Untergrund seiner Übermalungen und wird durch Orthubers Bearbeitung 'remixed' und zu andern Inhalten transformiert.

Im Prinzip kann alles, das Macht besitzt etwas zu bestimmen (Person, Gemeinschaft, Sache oder Gesetz, etc.), als Form des Diktats gesehen werden. Diese Gratwanderung, die das Thema der Ausschreibung beinhaltet, greift Oliver Orthuber humorvoll auf und unterwirft das Zeitschriftmaterial einem schrillen Transformationsprozess. Die 'Expertentipps für Design Code und Business', die der Macht der Mode, des Marktes und des Geldes, unterliegen, werden unter die Herrschaft von King Oxxo gebracht.

+ Between freedom and dictatorship | the wall

We want to stimulate a discussion about the antipodes freedom and dictatorship also in the transferred sense. This does not only mean the political aspects and nuances between freedom and dictatorially approach as well as the scope for action in democratic systems which is underlying the free market economy, but also a reflection on one's own wishes for diction and the adaptation of habits of thoughts and procedures, especially in artistic creation, to the given social and cultural conditions.

Within this framework, the cycle

Oliver Orthuber used for the King Oxxo series cycle the magazine Page, which is traded as an expert magazine for design code and business, as the source material. It forms the background of his overpaintings, so to speak, and is remixed and transformed to other content through Orthuber's processing.

"All overpaintings were made according to the same dictation - prescribed colors, techniques and shapes. They are messages to King Oxxo."

In principle, anything that has power to determine something (person, community, thing or laws, etc.) can be seen as a form of dictation. Oliver Orthuber takes up this balancing act, which includes the topic of the tender, and subjects the magazine material to a shrill transformation process. The 'Expert Tips for Design Code and Business', which are subject to the power of fashion, the market and money, are brought under the rule of King Oxxo.
