Für die Ausstellung P A C K E T - S O U P hat die Kuratorin Claudia Lamas Cornejo die Chinesischen Künstler Yingmei Duan und Cai Qing eingeladen, zwei Performances zum Thema Nachhaltigkeit zu erarbeiten. Die Performances werden am 19. Mai 2012 um 19.00 Uhr bei SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin-Neukölln gezeigt. Im Anschluss findet eine Gesprächrunde mit Yingmei Duan und Cai Qing statt an der sich alle Besucher sehr gerne beteiligen können.

Yingmei Duan, die für ihre Arbeiten verstärkt das Element der Entschleunigung nutzt, ist in China geboren und Teil der chinesischen Avantgarde. Sie arbeitete zunächst im legendären Künstler- viertel East Village in Beijing. 1995 nahm sie an der Gemscheinschafts-Performance „To add one meter to an anonymous mountain“ teil, die als einer der Klassiker der modernen chinesischen Kunst gilt.
Langzeit-Performances sind kennzeichnend für Duans Performancestil. „Im Mittelpunkt meiner Arbeiten steht die Betrachtung menschlicher Instinkte und Wünsche,“ erzählt Yingmei Duan.
Yingmei Duan, hat nachdem sie 1998 nach Deutschland kam, eine künstlerische Ausbildung bei Marina Abramovic und Christoph Schlingensief an der HBK Braunschweig absolviert und an zahlreichen nationalen und internationalen Ausstellungen, Kunst-Kooperationen, Festivals und Workshops teilgenommen. www.yingmei-art.com

Cai Qing lebt als freischaffender Künstler in Europa, New York und Singapore. Er nutzt Performances, Installtionen, Foto- und Videoelemente, um sich künstlerisch auszudrücken. Das Konzept hinter seinen Arbeiten ist das eines Beobachters und das eines betrachteten Objekts zugleich. Dabei konzentriert sich Cai Qing stets auf Menschen mit unterschiedlichem kulturellen Hintergrund und auf anderskulturelle Gesellschaften. Er genießt die Interaktion mit anderen Menschen in seinen Arbeiten. In seinen Werken sind deshalb oft Inspirationen aus alltäglichen menschlichen Lebensgeschichten enthalten. http://blog.artintern.net/blogs/index/Sonnenberg

P A C K E T - S O U P ist eine Ausstellung des gemeinnützigen Projektraums SAVVY Contemporary und des Aktionskünstlers Jan Kuck und thematisiert die Umweltverschmutzung in den Ozeanen durch Plastikmüll. Ziel ist es, ein interaktiver Dialog mit den Besuchern sowie mit Akteuren unterschiedlicher Fachdisziplinen zu schaden.

For the exhibition PACKET – SOUP curator Claudia Lamas Cornejo invited the Chinese artists Yingmei Duan and Cai Qing to draft two performances on sustainability. The performances will take place on 19th May 2012 at 7 pm at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin-Neukölln. After the show there will be a talk with Yingmei Duan and Cai Qing.


Yingmei Duan, who uses in her work the element of deceleration, was born in China and is part of the Chinese avant-garde. She worked first at the legendary East Village Art District in Beijing. In 1995 she took part in the collective performance "To add one meter to at anonymous mountain", which is considered one of the classics of modern Chinese art.
Long-term performances are indicative of Duan's Performancestil. "The focus of my work is the consideration of human instincts and desires," says Duan Yingmei.
After immigrating to Germany in 1998, Duan did her art education at Marina Abramovic and Christopf Schlingensief at the Braunschweig University and participated in numerous national and international exhibitions, art collaborations, festivals and workshops. www.yingmei-art.com

Cai Qing works as a independent artist in Europe, New York and Singapore. He uses performances, installtion, photo and video elements to express himself artistically. The concept behind his work is that of an observer and an observed object at the same time. Cai Qing focuses on people with different cultural backgrounds and different cultural societies. PACKET - SOUP is an art project by the non-profit project space SAVVY Contemporary and the artist Jan Kuck and focuses on the pollution of the oceans by plastic debris. The aim is to foster an interactive dialogue with visitors and with scientist from different disciplines.
